Privacy Policy

1. Who runs this site and how to reach us

This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is handled on corepattern.bastiangugger.com (the "Core Pattern" quiz). The operator and data controller is Bastian Gugger, a sole operator based in Switzerland. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of your rights, email bastian.gugger@bluewin.ch. No Data Protection Officer is appointed, and none is required: under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) a DPO is optional, and the scale of processing here does not trigger a mandatory one under the GDPR.

2. The short version

You take a quiz about your relationship patterns. To give you a result and (if you opt in) follow-up emails, we collect your name, email, and your quiz answers, and we score them into a psychological profile. We use Kit to send the emails, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to measure and target our ads, Calendly to book calls, Resend to email the operator a notification, ManyChat for the site chat widget, and an internal CRM to store your lead. Some of these are US companies, so some data leaves Switzerland. You can withdraw consent, unsubscribe, and ask us to delete your data at any time. The rest of this policy is the detail.

3. What personal data we collect

Identity and contact: first name and last name, email address, and (only if you apply) your phone number. Context you give us: your profession or world outside relationships, relationship status, whether you have children, your free-text relationship goal, and any prior work you've done (therapy, coaching, somatic work, etc.). Your quiz answers: your full, word-for-word answers to the quiz questions, plus any free-text you write on the application. Your scored profile: a psychological profile we calculate from your answers, including your primary and secondary "wound", coping mode, expression style, the parent the pattern traces back to, your archetype mix and percentages, and internal scoring flags. Application data (if you apply): your readiness and investment answers, a change-urgency self-rating from 1 to 10, and timestamps. Technical and tracking data: cookies and tokens used for advertising (see the cookies section), your browser user-agent, the page URL you came from, and a de-duplication event ID. Email attribution: if you arrive from one of our emails, attribution tags from the link (such as a subscriber ID, a hashed version of your email, and campaign tags).

4. Sensitive data — please read this

The quiz profiles personal, intimate themes: childhood wounds, the parent a pattern traces back to, coping and relationship patterns, and your relationship history. This is sensitive, personality-revealing data. We treat it as such. We only collect it because you choose to take the quiz, and we ask for your explicit consent before using it for anything beyond showing you your result. Your full, verbatim answers are stored in the operator's internal CRM and, if you apply, included in a notification email to the operator. Please do not enter anything you are not comfortable sharing.

5. Why we use your data, and our legal basis

To show you your quiz result: we process your answers to calculate and display your profile. Basis: your consent, and the steps you ask us to take. To send you the email program: if you opt in, we email you (see the email section). Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw any time. To handle your application and book a call: if you apply, we use your details to review your application and let you book a discovery call. Basis: your request and the steps toward a possible agreement. For advertising measurement and retargeting: we use the Meta Pixel and Conversions API to measure ad results and to build and target audiences. Basis: your consent. To run and secure the site: hosting, delivery, and protecting against abuse. Basis: our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure service. Swiss-law note: under the revFADP, private processing is generally lawful without a separate legal basis, but we still ask for your explicit consent for the email program, for cross-site advertising tracking, and for the personality profiling described in section 9, because Swiss law requires explicit consent for sensitive data and high-risk profiling.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

Meta Pixel: a client-side tracker (fbevents.js, pixel ID 1564751280866348) that fires page and funnel events to Meta for ad measurement and retargeting, and reads or sets Meta's _fbp and _fbc cookies (these typically last up to about 90 days). Automatic button-click tracking and automatic advanced matching are turned off. Meta Conversions API: a server-side companion that sends the same key events to Meta with your email hashed (turned into an irreversible code), de-duplicated against the Pixel so events aren't double-counted. ManyChat widget: a chat widget loaded across the site that connects to the operator's Instagram/Facebook DM automation; it collects whatever interaction data its own runtime gathers. No quiz form fields are passed to it by our code. Kit attribution parameters: if you click through from one of our emails, link parameters are read and kept for the session to attribute your visit. First-party session storage: we use your browser's session storage to carry your quiz state between pages (your name, email, answers, and attribution). This is not third-party tracking and clears when you close the tab. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool; the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API are the entire tracking stack. These advertising trackers currently load when you use the site. To opt out: adjust your Meta ad preferences (facebook.com/adpreferences and your Instagram settings), block or clear cookies in your browser, or use a tracker-blocking tool. You can also email us to have data we hold about you deleted.

7. Who receives your data (our processors)

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the funnel: Kit (kit.com) — our email provider; receives your email, first name, and your scored profile fields and tags, and sends the email program. Resend (resend.com) — sends a single notification email to the operator each time someone applies; that email contains the applicant's name, email, phone, application answers, and full scored profile and verbatim quiz answers. Meta Platforms (Facebook/Instagram) — receives advertising events via the Pixel and Conversions API, including a hashed email, hashed name and phone, the Meta cookies, your user-agent and source URL, and the archetype name carried as the content name. ManyChat (manychat.com) — runs the site chat widget that bridges into the operator's Instagram/Facebook DM automation. Calendly (calendly.com) — used to book your discovery call; your name and email are pre-filled into the booking link. Internal CRM — the operator's own lead store; receives your full lead, scored profile, context, raw quiz answers, and (on application) your phone and application answers. Vercel (vercel.com) — our hosting and server runtime; processes all site traffic as part of delivering the site. We do not sell your data. We do not use Airtable or Google Analytics.

8. International transfers — where your data goes

Some of our providers are based in the United States, so some of your data is transferred there. Specifically, data is disclosed to the USA via Meta Platforms, Kit, Resend, Vercel, Calendly, and ManyChat. The USA does not have a data-protection regime that Switzerland or the EU recognise as automatically adequate for all transfers. To protect your data on these transfers we rely on appropriate safeguards, principally the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (with the Swiss addendum) and, where a provider is certified, the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework. Our internal CRM is operated directly by the operator; where it or any provider is hosted outside Switzerland or the EU, the same safeguards apply. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards that apply to a given provider by emailing bastian.gugger@bluewin.ch.

9. Automated scoring and profiling

Your quiz answers are scored automatically by our software. The scoring sorts your answers into a psychological profile: a primary and secondary "wound" with scores, a coping mode, an expression style, the parental source of the pattern, and a mix of relationship archetypes with percentages. This profile then decides which version of the email program you receive and how we segment you. This is profiling, and because it analyses personality and relationship traits it can amount to high-risk profiling under Swiss law, which is why we ask for your explicit consent. The scoring is rule-based, not a hidden black box: it maps your answers to the categories above. It does not make any legally binding or similarly significant automated decision about you on its own. If you'd like more detail on the logic, or you disagree with how you were scored, contact us.

10. The email program

If you opt in, you join an automated email program: 14 emails over roughly 23 days, sent through Kit. The emails are personalised using your scored profile. If your quiz shows no dominant pattern, you are routed out of that program and instead receive our general newsletter. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can leave at any time. We keep your lead-magnet consent (taking the quiz and getting your result) separate from your newsletter and marketing consent: opting into one does not opt you into the other, and we only use your data for the purpose you agreed to. We do not send you a confirmation email from the funnel itself; if you book a call, Calendly sends its own booking confirmation.

11. How long we keep your data

We keep your data only as long as we need it. Lead and quiz data is kept while you are an active contact and for our records; email-program data is kept by Kit while you remain subscribed and then for our legitimate record-keeping. Application data and call bookings are kept for as long as needed to handle your application and any resulting engagement. The operator-notification emails are kept in the operator's mailbox as a business record. When data is no longer needed, or when you ask us to delete it, we delete or anonymise it. You can request deletion at any time and we will action it without undue delay (typically within 30 days).

12. Your rights

Under the Swiss revFADP and, where it applies, the GDPR, you have the right to: get access to the data we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; receive a portable copy; and, where we rely on your consent, withdraw that consent at any time without affecting anything done before you withdrew it. In practice that means you can unsubscribe from emails with one click, opt out of advertising tracking via your Meta ad preferences and browser settings, and email bastian.gugger@bluewin.ch for anything else. To exercise any right, just email us; there is no cost, and we will respond as quickly as we can.

13. Do you have to give us your data?

No. Providing your name, email, quiz answers, and (if you apply) your phone number is entirely voluntary. But some of it is necessary for the thing you're asking for: without a name and email we can't show you your full result or send the program, and without your application details and phone number we can't review your application or book your call. If you don't provide it, you simply don't get that part of the service.

14. Complaints

If you think we've handled your data wrongly, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Switzerland that is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC / EDOEB), www.edoeb.admin.ch. If you are in the EU, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

15. Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls, hashing of personal identifiers before they are sent to Meta, and reputable processors who maintain their own security standards. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your data seriously and review our setup as the funnel changes.

16. Children

This funnel is intended for adults (18 or older). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the funnel evolves. When we do, we change the "last updated" date below and post the new version at this URL, which stays live and reachable on both desktop and mobile. Material changes that affect how we use your data will be made clear. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
